Submitting materials to CORNER
Corner, an online journal dedicated to the avant-garde
invites contributions that address issues related to the Avant-Garde
Cinema, in particular the Hispanic Cinema. Essays,
which may take any theoretical orientation, should address any
of the following themes: Critical and theoretical approaches
to the films of Luis Buñuel, Buñuel's legacy,
The Erotics of Representation in the films of Luis Buñuel,
Alejandro Jodorowsky and Eliseo Subiela, New Avant-Garde
Films and Directors, Women in Surrealist Films, Surrealist elements
in Contemporary Hispanic and Brazilian Cinema. We welcome studies
with pictures and graphics. Papers Manuscripts in a language
other than English, Spanish, French, Catalan, Italian or Portuguese
should be accompanied by a translation in English or Spanish,
printed and on disk. Papers should be 10-25 pages in length,
including a bibliography and conforming to current MLA style
guidelines. With your submission please include 150-word abstract.
The deadline for submissions is July 15, 2000. If submitted via
regular mail, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Corner also seeks material for a number of upcoming issues.
The themes include: Surrealism and Latin America, Dada and Hispanic
Artists and Writers, El Postismo, Latin American Avant-Garde
and National Identity, The Action Poem, Hispanic Theater and
The Vanguards. Essays on other themes related to the interests
of the journal are also welcome. Interdisciplinary work is highly
encouraged.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Text:
We invite essays in MLA style, with Content/Bibliographic [End]
Notes, typed as text at the end of the paper, (that is, not
using the footnotes feature in your word processing software)
typed single spaced. Hard copy of manuscript must be accompanied
together with text in digital, electronic format, on a 3.5-inch
HD (High Density) diskettes (Mac or PC) or Zip cartridge (Mac
only). Text must be submitted in RTF (Rich Text Format) files.
The less formatting, the better.
(Text not submitted in RTF files will not be accepted for
publication!)
Graphics:
Send graphics either in printed or electronic form. Graphics
in printed form should have acceptable resolution and detail.
Graphics in electronic form may be sent preferibly in Internet
native graphic formats, that is, either as .gif or .jpg
files, (preferibly .gif) at 72 dpi resolution (Mac or
PC). As a second best option you can send pict files.
Please, dont send any graphics using native application formats,
like Freehand, Illustrator, Quark, Pagemaker, etc. As an exception,
you can send native Photoshop files (Mac or PC) at 72 dpi resolution.
Large graphic files could be sent compressed using Disk Doubler
(Mac).
